monster party!

Our two youngest children just turned 2 and 4. Their birthdays are just two weeks apart. We decided to do a combined birthday party for them and decided on a monster theme. We made monster invites (sorry, didn't get a picture of those) and invited all of their little monster friends over to help us celebrate. I had SO much fun putting this party together and wish I had a whole month to prepare for it, as I still didn't do everything I was wanting too, but the party turned out great.

We had over 20 little kiddos for the party, along with their parents. The first thing I worked on after we got the invites out, were these fun monster containers that held homemade play dough for each kiddo to take home. I originally was going to have the kids pick a monster jar and play with their large ball of play dough, but decided I didn't want that much play dough exposed to my home, so I made little jars of multi-color play dough, so the kids could "make a monster" with just a small amount of play dough. These little monsters were given out with the party favor bags.
My friend, Erin Royal, made this fun monster cake (as well as some fun monster cupcakes not pictured). I've seen a similar monster cake on Pinterest, I'm assuming that is where she got the idea for this cake!

For one of the games, I simply drew up a fun little monster on poster board including wiggly arms, horns, teeth, tons of eyeballs and a tongue for the kiddos to "build a monster". I must admit, once I got all of it cut out and ready to go, I too had to play and build my very own monster. FUN, FUN, FUN! Perfect game for this age group, and a very cheap game!

As far as the monster decor, I had a few of these metal pails from my daughters party from last year. I simply hot-glued googly eyes (on just about everything!), painted a mouth and added some fun hair using different colored boas found at the craft store! The suckers inside the pails came from Oriental Trading.

I made "eyeball" cake balls...to add to the sugar high we were already giving everyone.

Another game I made was the "feed the monster" game. I once again drew up a fun little monster with a big mouth for catching it's food the kids were to toss in. I made my own beanbags out of 4inch squares of fabric and pinto beans.

The last game I put together was inspired by this Pinterest pin.

I made each circle look like a monster by adding googly eyes and a mouth. This game was really cute for this age group as well. The little boys punched pretty good, while some of the little girls simply poked it and ripped it open with their fingers. SO cute!

Lastly, I made this fun little banner to greet the party-goers with a picture of the birthday kids. I really wanted to make a large banner, but simply ran out of time. The letters on the banner are scrapbook stickers, fast and easy to add or take off if I would like!

We had a blast at the party and hope everyone else did too! So glad we had so many friends to celebrate our little monsters special days! Thanks for coming!

Finally Something!

I know it has been a while since my last post. Life has been busy. I sadly must admit I only made a handful of Christmas cards this year as I simply ran out of time and energy. There are so many things I would like to do with my spare time, but I have to choose wisely. Over the Winter Break, I decided to tackle this project I've been meaning to do for over a year now for my daughter's room. She asked for a little change in her room, so I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to make this fun name banner to go in her room. Let me tell you, this would have taken me FOREVER to make if it wasn't for the awesome Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge! I cut the Kraft scallop flags as well as the pink polka dot flags using this cartridge! I used the Ribbon and Rosettes cartridge as well. It made this project fast and fun!

(Yes, I know there are no sparkles lining the top of the last flag...my husband and daughter thought I messed up...I simply ran out of bling! Ordering more! :) )

I have mountains of laundry to fold, but instead I spent the morning sewing another one of these little darlings! I have custom created a dozen of these babies now. Isn't that little "Mini Me" one so cute? My little toddlar could drag it around all day carrying her baby doll and sippy inside! I made these two for a friend to try and sell at a bazzaar she has a booth at. Wish I had more time so I could have created more for her to put out at her booth, but this Momma is short on "play time". I'm thinking about opening an Etsy shop to try and sell these...we will see, another big thought....just need to put it into action now!

Layout #14 and a Fall Card!

I know I am no where near reaching my goal of 100 completed layouts by the years end, but I am glad I am getting at least some things accomplished. I would like to shoot for at least 25 by the beginning of the new year. I was excited to get this layout done as I had all the pictures to put the layout together and it came together rather fast.

I had fun using the Art Philosophy to cut out these fun little pendants for the banner.

Here is my latest card I created for my local card group that met last night. I had to really think outside the box with this fall themed card as I don't have many fall stamps. I like how it turned out.

I have my card group tonight for the first time since summer has ended. I sure enjoyed playing with papers and getting inky fingers...need to do this more often! Plan on making a few more of these to send off to my niece and nephews.
Yes, I have still been sewing. I still have more bags to sew as we speak. This cute cowboy themed one was for a friend that just had her baby boy last week!

This one was for my newest niece and Sister in Law. I was late getting it to them as baby decided to come about 2 weeks early. Glad I finally got it to them though!

I may be a day early, but I couldn't help but get my home ready for Fall! I made this fun door wreath which was inspired by an online photo. I love how it turned out and hopefully it gives a nice fall welcome to those who come to our door.
I was playing with the new Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosphy cartridge and made these fun fall leaves out of scraps. I adhered them to a small grapevine wreath and added a candle to the center to make a fun table peice.

Had an hour to play and needed thoughtful cards. I used the fun new Art Philosophy Cricut Kit to cut the leaf and sentiment tag. It sure makes paper piecing so much faster! So fun to play with too! Colors are Olive, Kraft, Cocoa, bamboo, Autumn Terracota and Goldrush.

I must admit that most of my days are filled with running children to and from school, laundry, dishes, mopping, more laundry, etc. As I was mopping my kitchen floor the other day, I actually thought to myself that I was enjoying the time I was having with "playing house". It is amazing to me that as young children we role play this work that seems never ending and so repetitive. I guess that is what helps us enjoy it later on in life.

Yesterday though, I got all my "housework" done early and was so excited to finish some projects I had started. The above Rag Messenger bag is one a friend ordered for her younger sister. My 3 year old was the oldest home this morning, so he was the photographer...I must say he did an awesome job of getting a picture of the bag, as that is what I requested. :) I think I'm becoming addicted to fabric, just like I have with paper. My husband may need to send me off to therapy {but then he would have to "play house" so I don't see him doing that! LOL}
The other project I finished was this layout of my little guys 3rd birthday party. He, as all other little boys I know, loves Toy Story, so we had to celebrate with Woody, Buzz and of coarse have cute Alien cupcakes to make it special! Here's hoping for more creative days ahead!

You know you are a craft junky when... {getting ready for school!}

...you already have all the supplies to put a new found project together! I follow a website, www.5dollardinners.com, they have awesome ideas and info on there, from a printable grocery list, couponing info, and the latest lunch ideas for the kiddos. They had posted about Martha Stewarts Magnetic Lunch chart and I jumped on the idea. I actually completed a project within 24 hours of finding it, and without even having to run to the store for "supplies"! Guess that goes to show what a craft junky I am! I already had the magnet strips, cardstock, lamanating sheets, and I used velcro dots to adhere my kids choices to their charts.

I used Close To My Heart My Acrylix stamp envelopes to store the menu choices in.
Martha only has a fruit catagory, but I made my green strips into a fruits & veggies catagory and added carrots or celery w/ peanut butter.

I also have the option for my kids to eat school lunch {that is what the two little choices are at the top right}. I am hoping this gets my 3 year old (that will be eating lunch at home) more of a desire to EAT! As far as choices, I sat down with my kiddos and let them make suggestions. We were actually able to come up with 5 different sandwich ideas {turkey and cheese, pb&j, ham filling, turkey wrap or pepperoni and cheese}. Maybe with this chart I will be more willing to make them lunch this year! Yay for back to school! :)

I finally made time to create a birthday card for a good friend of mine. I used the new vintage type stamp set...can't wait until I get my new Cricut Art Philosophy Collection so I can actually cut these bitty letters out and pop them out if I want to! Hoping to find more time {or just make more time} for more paper crafting SOON! :)

A VERY busy Summer! {and my most recent creative project!}

To say that this Summer has been busy is an understatement! Ever since the kiddos got out of school it seems we have been running non-stop! We have had lots of fun, totaled our van, endured(and still enduring) the heat and enjoyed family, friends and each other! I have not really had time for the creative side of me, but have squeezed in some creative time to maintain my sanity! :) At the beginning of summer I was busy making aprons for my daughters birthday party. We let each girl decorate their own 6inch cake and take it home. I have sewn a lot this summer, making more diaper bag/purses and the diaper pad/wipes cases. This one here is the one I just finished this past week for my Mom to try and sell at a county fair.

I just received my first order from the new Close To My Heart products this last week and can't wait to get to play! Hoping to be posting some fresh NEW stuff very soon! Hope you are all enjoying your Summer!

A Redo of a past card!

This is a card I made for one of my card clubs a long time ago. Well I had extra kits and had my local card club last night that I am a member of, and had to come up with something fast so I redid this card into this:
I needed a belated birthday card so this is what I came up with using my extra kit. I love how it is simple yet elegant. Perect for my Grandma's bday that is today! :)

I've been a busy little beaver sewing away to my heart's content. I just finished this fun and easy Pillowcase Dress for my little one. I got the idea and the directions from The Moda Bake Shop by Aubrey Schwartz. I altered the size to fit my little girl. I just love how it turned out! I love that I can make either side the front or back! So fun!

I recently finished yet another rag diaper bag...this one for one of my great friends back in Idaho! I love the color combo on this one! The fabric is so adorable! I believe I will be making one just like this for me finally! I sure have had fun with my little sewing projects lately!

I've been invited to participate in a local card group. This is the card I came up with. I haven't created in a while. Hoping this card helps me get back into my creative groove. I was inspired by many places for this card...the stamp is a digi stamp from bugaboo stamps. This is my first go at a digi stamp. The card layout is inspired from this weeks Mojo Monday challenge. The sentiment is actually what got me started on this card and was inspired from Theresa Kline's card on the Mojo Monday site. Loved the sentiment and it worked perfectly for the card group's theme {easter/spring} for this month.

I received word late Monday afternoon that my sweet Grandmother had passed away. Her and my Grandpa celebrated their 65th wedding Anniversary that day! My Grandma was a very caring, loving, giving, intellegent woman. She was a great example to me. I am very grateful to her and my Grandpa both who raised my father to be the man he was. I hope I can continue their legacy of love and faithfulness and pass it on to my children. Much love and hugs Grandma!
I made my Grandpa this card. I regretfully will not be able to attend my Grandma's funeral, but wanted to let my Grandpa know how much we love him. I have not made many sympathy cards and have hardly any sympathy sentiments. I printed this sentiment off the computer. The card is a redo of a past card I had scraps of.

A Studio Complete! Spoiled rotten! :)

As mentioned before in my previous post about orginazation, my scrapping area is in what is supposed to be our formal dining area. I really needed some solutions for storage, work areas and to cut down on the "cluttered" look since my area is open to the living space.

Here is a view of my space from the living room after all my added orginization!
Here's a view of the problem wall from before. I had posted that my husband was working on a "paper station" for me that I designed for him to build me. Well, we figured out some doors and stained it an ebony color to go along with my other bookcase and desk.

Here's a view of my space coming from the kitchen. The ink pad holder was built by my hubby a long time ago, but we finally got around to painting it. My stamps and ribbons are stored under my desk in some Sterilite containers. The baskets hold odd and end crafts {jewelry making supplies, Bind it all supplies, kid art supplies, school supplies, etc.)

Here is a close up of my awesome "paper station" my husband just completed. I LOVE this so much! It adds custom storage that works for my supplies and it is another work surface that I can stand at!

Here is a peek inside my cabinet. the top shelves have my B&T or patterned papers, catagorized by gender and seasons. The white containers hold my precious cardstock and cardstock scraps. Then the bottom row hold my IRIS photo storage bins of upcoming photos, my chipboard letters and my cricut cartridges.

My hubby mentioned yesterday that I'm spoiled rotten...he's right! Thanks dear! :) {I do have more crafting supplies in the kitchen in a buffet..who needs room for fine china?!} Now that I have it all together I need to find some time to play! Lovin' my new space though! :)

Scrap Challenge - The Results!

Another rag diaper bag!

My sister in law has been enjoying her rag diaper bag I made her a few months ago. One of my husband's cousins requested one too since she just had her last child in January. This is hers. I'm really enjoying sewing and am grateful I finally took the time to start "playing"! I definately think my paper crafting skills have helped with my sewing, which makes it nice.

A scrap challenge! Layout #10 - You're Beautiful

So last week one of my downline with Close To My Heart asked if I had any new scraps I could send her to show off at her upcoming crop. I told her I had bulk of the new sweetheart paper and agreed to send her some 4x6's of the paper and she would have to come up with a card with what I sent her. Well my curiosity got the best of me as I wanted to see if I could come up with a layout with what I was sending her. Within minutes I pulled the Kraft and cocoa scraps out to add to the 4x6 B&T's and had a layout! I knew right away what pictures would go with these fun colors.

Here's the finished product!
A close-up of the title using my new found favorite CTMH product, Eclectic Irresistables. I sponged the bottom of the letters with baby pink and then sponged the top with cotton candy to give the title a little detail. I have found the little "fuzz bumps" that are on the letters from where they were holding on to the base bother me, so to be rid of them I simply take my distressing sanding block and sand it down!

I have made a challenge to all of my downline - I have sent them all 4x6 scraps of this fun sweetheart paper and have asked them to see what kind of creations they can come up with. They can add more scraps, but must use the scraps I sent them. I will be posting their creations in the next few weeks so make sure and come back and check!

I used Sophia Workshop on the go kit supplies to put this layout together along with the new awesome pink ribbon collection.

We have pretty much all our birthdays right at the beginning of the year in our family, which makes for lots of parties and cake. I used the same Magic layout I did for my little boys birthday layout, but this time I turned it upside down to fit my baby girls pictures. Once again I used more flip flaps to store more precious pictures of this fun day! This layout is PERFECT for adding more 4x6's.

The Sweetest Gift

I just received word that my twin brother and sister in law just welcomed their sweet baby girl into the world! I was so excited I had to make them a card using some new CTMH products - Kraft cardstock, Sweetheart B&T paper and the new Baby Love stamp set. Wish I was hand delivering it so I could see her myself!

2011 goal - layouts #7 and #8!

I've been working on my little guys album. I love how this tubtime layout turned out. I used paper from Notebook and Splendor as well as some Heavenly Blue cardstock. This layout is pretty much cased from one of the layouts from the Magic layout book - lovely Assistant layout. I loved how they had scalloped edges and the ribbon placement and my photos fit perfectly! Made for a fast layout!
Here is a layout I've had done for a couple of weeks. I turned it in for a corprate contest but haven't heard back so I'm assuming I didn't win. This layout is done using the fun new Fanfare paper packet and pennant alpha set. I hadn't scrapbooked my son's birthday pictures yet and as soon as I saw the new catalog with this awesome paper I knew they were the perfect pair!

I used flip flaps to hold more photos and my journaling.

With moving again I had to find a place in our new home for my "collection" of scrapbook supplies. In our old home I had my own 12x15 room dedicated to my supplies and my clubs. Even then though my stuff was cluttered to stay the least...well, I guess just "cluttered" to the eye, everything had a place but it didn't look neat and tidy. Here in our new home I get our formal dining room as my scrapping space so I have realized how "cluttered" my collection is getting.

This is the problem wall. The tall white cabinet is perfect for holding my papers and business supplies. Then I have a bookcase of children's books, then my drawers of glues, bow making, odd embilishments and alterable items. Then of coarse the cubbies for my children's artwork, coloring books, school aids, etc. ...too much to look at especially when it's open to the living room.
SO...off to the drawing table... you know I got an A+ in my drafting class in Jr. High?! I think my teacher just liked me {plus I did ok work}. Well I drafted up the perfect "paper station" that could hold my cardstock tupperwares, my B&T's and my memorabilia boxes of stuff ready to scrap. I also knew I wanted it to be countertop highth as I've found I stand mostly when scrapping. Plus somewhere to put my cutting board! ... and of coarse I need to hide all my treasures from curious hands and wandering guests eyes! LOL Here is my hubby working on putting it together...yes, he is using my kitchen as his workshop...little did I know he was going to be cutting the wood at my kitchen table! I'm sure we will be eating sawdust for a few weeks! Our new humble aboad does not have garage, which was my hubbies "man cave"...maybe one of these days he will have a true woodworking workshop.

Here it is put together, just missing the back.

And here it is in it's place...it is still a work in progress...we have to figure out some doors then paint or stain it. I am very pleased with it though! I will definately be posting the finished product!

Here is a fun simple card put together using the new Fanfare paper packet that will release with the new Spring/Summer catalog on Tuesday, February 1st.

..and here's a random card I made. I used ribbon to make the leaves that are tucked under the flower. The flower is 2 scalloped circles cut to form the pedals and finished off with a sparkly brad in the middle. A fast and fun way to make flowers!

I love to make my own patterned paper using stamps. When I couldn't find just the right paper for this layout I decided to give the Wings Workshop on the Go exclusive stamp set a try. I LOVE this stamp set! It has so much potential! I used the stamp set to stamp on my Baby Pink cardstock using both Blush and Baby Pink inks. Creepy Crawlies and Cowgirls --Layouts #2 and #3

More Halloween layouts. This one I used products from the January Promotion Brochure "Inspirations". The paper packet is Wings. I loved the colors and was able to use the right papers to make it look more "country". I LOVE the new Bohemian alphabet! I also used the awesome Wings Level 2 Assortment pleated ribbon. The tag is a pull out and hides my journaling. I had to really contain myself from putting anything on all that white above the pictures but believe it helps draw the eye to the main focus of the pages.

Once again trying to keep the papers simple to help keep focus on the fun pictures of my adorable subjects! I used Game On paper for this layout. I used the fun Monogram Demensional Elements for the title. I covered them in glitter using one of my favorite scrapbooking accessories, Liquid Glass.

Monkey Business - 2011 layout #1

Here's a close-up of the layout - I sewed on this layout, which you can barely see, but it adds so much to these pages!
I used the colors: cocoa, sweet leaf, bamboo, colonial white and crystal blue. I used B&T paper from Veranda, Miracle {which was a promo. item a while back but CTMH is bringing it back with more adorable paper designs as one of the NEW Spring/Summer 2011 paper packets!} and the Sweet Leaf B&T is actually from this months' Wings paper packet! I love having the B&T's double sided! I also used an 8x12 Memory protector on the left page...love these recently new items! I find a lot of time my layouts don't fit all the pictures I want to put on my pages so these page protectors help make my pages larger! Love it!

This layout is actully a Halloween Layout...I went for something other then the traditional Halloween colors and schemes and I think it worked out perfectly!

As mentioned before, my plan fo 2010 was to scrap 100 pages by the end of the year, well I only completed 30 total for the year. SO I am starting anew, I will be trying once again during 2011 to complete at least 100 pages by the end of this year, and hopefully I can inspire some of you as well as I try and reach my goal! Happy New Year everyone! :)

2010 Goal: layouts 28 and 29

I love the simplicity of this layout. I tried the fun paper folding technique with the red strip of paper and even used my sewing machine! I just might get into the sewing on layouts now that I feel comfortable with my sewing. I used old retired paper on this layout. This second layout is done using the You Rock paper packet. My little guy finds some funny places to take naps! I used a new Spring/Summer product - a Spray Pen.
Well I only have 4 days left to reach my goal of 100 layouts in one year... I wasn't expecting to move this year. It has been an extremely busy year for me with the birth of my 4th child, my hubby being deployed for 7 months and then moving over 1000 miles. As this year comes to an end though I am very grateful for the blessings in my life. I am looking forward to yet another year and more goals. It seems I'm getting my scrapping groove back so I just might be able to reach my 100 goal this upcoming year! :)

A Homemade Christmas

My oldest daughter and I were just playing around this morning and made these fun homemade Christmas ornaments. I love how Rudolph and ClaraBelle turned out! I love a tree decorated with sentimental ornaments! I used my Cricut and some felt to build these adorning little beauties. Along with some google eyes, ribbon, bells and sparkles.

I've been a busy little beaver finishing up my christmas cards, and making homemade goodies for teachers. I've made dozens of batches of different kinds of cookies and then came across this fun and easy "Reindeer Food" recipe from Betty Crocker. It is fast and fun for kiddos to make as well. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love to alter any and every item I can get my hands on. I've been saving these little beauties {Crystal light Containers} for just the right altered project. The reindeer food fits perfectly in these fun little containers and the altering possibilities are endless! What a fun and fast holiday gift for friends and family! Happy Holidays to you all! Here's the recipe for the Reindeer Food too!

6 cups Rice Chex or Chocolate Chex cereal

1 bag (12 oz.) white vanilla baking chips (2 cups)

1/3 cup coarsely crushed peppermint candy canes (14 mini, unwrapped)

1. Line cookie sheet with foil or waxed paper. Place cereal in large bowl.

2. In microwavable bowl, microwave white vanilla baking chips uncovered on High about 1 min 30 sec, stirring every 30 seconds, until chips can be stirred smooth. Stir in half the crushed peppermint candy.

3. Pour over cereal; toss to evenly coat. Spread mixture in single layer on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with remaining candy. Let stand until set, about 20 minutes. Gently break up coated cereal. Store in airtight container.

I had so much fun making all these fun homemade projects for my brother, his wife and their new soon-to-be bundle of joy. My husband commented this morning that he thinks I've been sewing for a whole month straight now (making this and some other projects for other loved ones!). I'm sure they will enjoy it all from having something to carry all those diapers, somewhere to put baby {that is clean and sanitary!} and something to cuddle her up tight with! ~and not to mention it all matches ~ YAY! Now I'm really ready to put my sewing machine away for a while, pick off all the unpicked thread that is all over me and my house, and get back to some paper crafting! :)

Here is a glimpse of what I have been up to lately. My twin brother and Sister in Law are expecting their second baby soon ( a girl this time - yay!) and I have been wanting to try a rag quilt, but decided to try and make a rag diaper bag instead to go along with my late homemade diaper pads and wipes cases I've been making like mad { I will post the matching set of those in my next post!}. I love how this diaper bag turned out and it was pretty easy for a beginner sewer. I just hope my lovely sister in law likes it as much as I do! :) I am still working on the rest of the gift for her and baby...my first guilt...I'll be posting those soon, need to run to the store for a few more supplies and hoping to get it done withing the next couple of days. Now onto the 5 dozen Christmas cards I need to finish this weekend!

Some Studio J layouts while on the road!

While we were "homeless" and between houses during our move to Texas I was able to actually get some scrapbooking done by using our awesome Studio J!

These first two layouts are from a while ago when my oldest was the baby! We went to Philly to visit close friends and do some site seeing. I love how these layouts turned out! Fast, fun and EASY! --- yet still simply stunning!

I was just playing with these pictures and loved how it turned out so I order one for each of my kids books! Make sure and click on the layouts to see a close up of them!

Well just wanted to make sure you all knew I am still alive and wanting to craft! Still needing to get our home into order, especially my scrapping space! Can't wait to get my fingers inky again! :) Hopefully it'll be sooner then later! Happy Autumn!

Summer/Outdoors layout - features two new CTMH colors - Pear and Sky. For this fun layout you get to random stamp the trees and clouds. Other colors include Topiary, cranberry and goldrush as well as just about every brown offered by CTMH.
Precious Girl layout - perfect for your little "pretty in pink" pictures! Chocolate, Blush and sweet leaf colors.
This layout screams fall to me for some reason. Perfect for your kids playing in the leaves! If you wish we can switch out the hollyhock cardstock for some Indian Corn blue and of coarse add some cordinating ribbon!

All three layouts are from the WONDERFUL new Magic How-To book that will launch here in a few weeks! I LOVE Jeanette's How-To books! They make scrapbooking and cardmaking so enjoyable and rewarding!

I can't believe today is my last Cherish Club. I am sad to leave all my wonderful friends and club members behind as we embark on a new part of life here soon! Here are a few projects I've been working on lately. I've been meaning to put together a box to stash my hubby and I's 'love notes' we've given each other over the years instead of putting them in a boring shoe box. I love how this turned out.

I used the Silloutte paper packet as well as the Perfect Day papers. I love to use our Demensional Alphas for titles and it seems to make the cake with these altered boxes. I kind of made up how to make the rose petals curled, I have seen many awesome ones other people have posted but haven't found any instructions for these type of roses. I will post later step-by-step instructions on how to make these budding beauties!

OK, so I have a long way to go to reach my goal of 100 pages by the end of the year, but I believe I've already done more this year then what I got done last year! I just may take a week or so and go on a personal 'scrapbooking' vacation toward the end of the year to try and reach my goal! This is my most recently finished layout. I love the bright colors - perfect for Summer! I got a kick out of all those kids in that kiddie pool and had to capture that in the title! The little duckies from the Makin' Waves Stamp Set worked perfectly for this layout.
OH BOY! Are you going to love all the FUN new Summer product! Here is a sneak peak of two of my new favorite stamp sets - Hot Diggity and Hit The Spot! Also our fun new 4 1/2 inch clear card bases and the new Splendor paper packet along with Irresistibles Pizzazz Chipboard! FUN FUN FUN! The inside of this card reads: Life is Good. A helpful hint for those that purchase the clear cards - they have a pertective plastic cover on both sides - make sure and remove them BEFORE you decorate! Also, if you tend to have sweaty fingers hold the Irresistibles chipboard die-cuts on the sides, not where you will be inking as the ink will resist your fingerprints! (oops!) Tons of fun to play with though! A definate MUST on your Wish List of new products!

This time I made the box a potential sentimental gift box. I came up with these four fun Thank You cards to put inside along with some envelopes.

The color combo for these cards were inspired by a fun little girls dress I saw while browsing the internet. I added the black as an accent color and love how these cards turned out! Colors are: Ocean, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, Tulip, Baby Pink, and Creme Brulee. Fun Summer Colors! I just may have to come up with a scrapbook page with this color combo!

Here is my first layout of our newest bundle of joy. With the upcoming launch of "Studio J", Close To My Heart's digital scrapbooking program, I had to sit down and play. I am very excited about this new product and am looking forward to catching up with some of my scrapping this year! Though I prefer the traditional hands to paper to relieve my stress, I will be creating more of these digital layouts from time to time. As for my yearly goal, I am now done with 7 layouts and it isn't even February yet! YAY! :)

I've been a busy little beaver lately, creating and "nesting" away as I prepare for our newest bundle of joy to arrive here within the next few weeks. I have had an overwhelming feeling I'm just not prepared for her arrival yet very much so anticipating it! I have been busy creating more hair bows for both the newest Cheney girl as well as big sister. I needed somewhere to stash my little gems I've created so I came up with this. I saw this idea from a friend. These little hairbows are addicting! I was even going to the baby's closet to make sure I had at least one bow per outfit! I used CTMH's fun Bella paper to cover my flower pot and the colors match her room decor perfectly!

And, just to let you know how much of a punctual person I am NOT, here is a Christmas, yes, I said CHRISTMAS present I have finally finished for my good friend! It didn't turn out exactly how I would have liked it to, but it will have to do! I used the fun Emporium papers and colors. You will also see I used many new fun Spring 2010 products as well! The journal is a fun alterable item that has endless possiblilities! I also used the fun February Stamp of the Month, Peice of Cake, a very FUN new stamp set!

I usually do the same as the example for club, but this time, I came up with these different cards using the kit for my September 2009 Bright Christmas card. My favorite one is probably the "a Christmas wish for ewe" the little hat came from the Merry Persuits stamp set.

I had so many adorable pictures of my son at the pumpkin patch last year I had a hard time picking which ones to scrap. I think these ones show a good summery of his fun day! The photos are the main focus and set the mood for the layout. I used some background stamps to make my own patterned paper and then simply titled my layout using our awesome large alphas.

I haven't hosted an open crop in a long time and with the new catalog launching in September I thought it would be the perfect time for us all to get together and use up our stash of products and CREATE! The Scrap N' Stamp Camp will be on Saturday, September 19th from 10am to 6pm at my home. Bring your supplies and come create layouts, cards or papercraft to your hearts content. A Sneak Peak at a FUN new stamp set from the Fall Catalog!

I got to play this weekend with an adorable NEW stamp set that will debut in the Fall/Winter 2009 Catalog, out next month. MERRY MONSTERS was a definate on my wish list and when I remembered I had a $10 credit for winning a contest a few months back I immeditely ordered this adorable little set. My family is known for "nicknames" and I often refer to my sweet little kiddos as my little monsters. Well when I decided I wanted to make something fun this weekend I decided to try out one of these fun True Fit Folio Accordian Albums. There are 6 tags that can be pulled out for each of my mother's Grandkids to write a little note to their Grandma. I added several picture mattes to display Grandma's "Little Monsters" from their different Halloween adventures. The original creator of the True Fit Folio Accordian Album is Kelly English-Triggs. Here are the layouts for this month. I can tell I haven't scrapped in a while. Option #1 is done with the Tinkerin' paper. You will get a whole 12x12 cardstock for photo mattes since you can rearrange and add more. I may be posting one more layout for Cherish Club if I can get my act together. May 2009 Cherish Club Layouts

Here are the options for Cherish Club this month! Both are done with the NEW Animal Cookies papers. One is a zoo/animal theme and the other could be used for anything but I chose to add pictures from the park. Cherish Club this month will be Thursday, May 28th at 7pm or Friday, May 29th at 9am or 7pm.

"Hip, Hip Hooray It's Your Birthday" card done using Silouette paper and the fun Nursery Bash stamp set.

Father's Day card done with Stardust paper, Checklist stamp set, Starstruck stamp set and a few more. Colors are: Cocoa, Goldrush and Moonstruck.

Mother's Day Card done with Bella paper and Endless Friendship Stamp Set. We will be learning the chalk popping technique on this card.

Good Luck/ Well Wishes card done in Cocoa, Bamboo, Desert Sand, Baby Pink and Sorbet. I used Aspirations stamp set as well as the Intrinsic Backgrounds set. This card can always be turned into a beuatiful birthday or thank you card with a change of the sentiments.

I received my new Summer products yesterday and got to play! Here are a few cards I created while coming up with next weeks Card Club cards. I love the Bella paper and the coordinating stamp set! I had a blast with all my new fun toys!

My Daughter was trying to find out what she wants to be when she grows up. First it was a zookeeper, then a girl firefighter (during Fire Prevention week), a chef, and now a ROCKSTAR! Last fall I had put on some music for her and I found her jumping on my couch and dancing and that is when she announced that maybe she'll be a rockstar!

I used some of my favorite techniques on this layout from random stamping my own custom B&T paper to match my photos, to ink distressing, paper peicing, dry embossing and hidden journaling. The tab up at the top left hand corner was an after thought as to where to put my journaling. I had already glued everything down so I decided to use one of the photo storage page pockets (4x6) glued to the back of the layout with a slit through my layout to let the tag be pulled out from.

Colors on the layout are : Cocoa, Tulip, Goldrush and Sorbet

Here is the It's A Party- Option #1 Cherish Club layout nearly completed. I am waiting on a 5x7 photo to replace the 4x6 on the left page. I thought I would show you the potential of one of this month's layouts for club. This kit would also be perfect for the celebration of a new baby boy and showcasing his first few months in the world! Endless possibilities with this fun color-schemed kit!

A gift for a friend!

My best friend is getting married next month and I was having a hard time deciding what to give them and then thought that it would be nice to give them something they will remember who it is from and that is specific to them. I chose to make them this homemade dry erase board out of a picture frame. They can either hang it by the phone to jot down important info. or put it in their room where they can write little love notes to one another. Hoping she doesn't check my creative blog before I give her this gift! :)

Color Challenge!

I am always finding different patterns and color combos as I go about my everyday tasks. A child's shirt, blanket or even the pattern from the inside of a shoe! I am constantly thinking of the Close To My Heart colors that would match and try and remember them to play with later. Well last week at church I noticed a little baby girl blanket with these colors and knew I had to try and recreate the pretty flowered pattern with my inks and stamps. This is a sneak peek of one of the Cherish Club layouts for the month of April. I challenge you to go create something with this bold and beautiful color palette!

I was able to get a sneak peek of the NEW Close To My Heart Summer 2009 catalog yesterday and let me tell you that I can't wait to get my hands on some of the AWESOME new products! It also gave me the drive to get busy creating! Here is a layout I have been planning ever since I saw the Stardust Paper Packet. My little guy has a favorite book about Astronauts and has decided that is what he wants to be when he grows up. I especially love the My Pages Talk Voice Recorder where I was able to actually record my son saying he's going to be an Astronaut. I'm sure it will be treasured for years to come!

I know I can't be the only paper crafter that starts papercrafting with the intentions of working on one project but then is distracted by another "project"! I went into my scrapbook room today to catch up on some kits I've been meaning to get done and I came across a few of my many notebooks I use to jot everything and everything in. I got looking at them and decided that I could compile all of my 'good ideas' into one book and be rid of the clutter of several of them. Well as some of you may know I just can't leave most items unaltered. I have to make it 'cute'! I told myself I was going to try and make it simple and this is what I came up with. It didn't take me long, and it was fun, though I did not accomplish the first task I went into my scrapbook room in the first place to do, at least I created, right?

March 2009 Cherish Club Layouts

Easter Layout - Blush Accent

Colors are : Sweet Leaf, Blush, Lilac Mist, Creme Brulee and Spring Iris for the base.

The bunny is from the adorable "Bunny Love" stamp set from the 2009 Spring Catalog.

The flower up in the corner is from the "Playful Petals" stamp set. This layout can easily be used as a spring layout or even a baby layout! Note that I stamped polka dots (my personal favorite!) instead of eggs to make this layout more versatile, change the title and vu-walla! you have yourself a custom two page layout!

Easter Layout - Buttercup Accent

Here's an example of the same layout but with Buttercup instead of Blush for those Mommies of all boys! Still pastel and springy but not so GIRLY! :)

I just could not resist making a layout using this beautiful March Stamp of the Month set. I know it looks 'Valentiny' but you can never go wrong with a lovely layout like this! I am very pleased with how this layout turned out!

February was a crazy month at the Cheney household so in order to complete at least one layout for the month of February I pulled out a Level 1 kit and whipped out this layout. I like the challenge of the level 3's using the paper packets and stamps, but when time is short, level ones are the way to go! I added a little more by using the fun Fancy Cuts Botanicals and adding some ribbon.

We are doing a birthday theme. Please note that you do NOT have to do the stamping of the title and tags if you do not wish to. These layouts can very easily be used for another theme! Also note that they are both the same layout from our Imagine How To Program. The second page on the boy layout is simply rotated to fit horizontal photos. I don't think I have EVER created so many things for one holiday! I was busy last week, helping my kids stamp 3x3 valentines for their classmates, making these adorable sucker cover valentines for close friends as well as creating cards for those dear to my heart!

This one says "paws down your the best - Happy Valentine's Day! " inside.

This one was of coarse for my hubby. I had to freehand the birdie as I don't have that adorable bird stamp set yet from the spring catalog yet! :( It didn't turn out exactly how I would have liked but it worked!

My little boy is having a birthday party soon and he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Here are a few ideas I came up with for the invites.

This one is a stair-stepper card

This one I used our cool Circle Window Charms to make a Mickey Mouse head! I thought this card was a little lacking something though.

I'm sure I'm not done making stair-stepper cards! Mine is done with a 5x5 base when folded completely up. Here are the folding instructions for the base of my stair-stepper card:

You will need:

1 - 5x12 strip of cardstock

1 - 5x10 strip of cardstock

1.) Starting at the top of the 5x12 strip, fold down 2 inches. Then fold back 2 inches (as to make a paper fan), 4 inches from the top.

2.) The next step measures 3 1/2 inches. Fold at 7 1/2 inches then at 11 inches. You will have a 1 inch tab left.

3.) Fold the 5x10 strip of cardstock in half.

4.) Glue the 1 inch tab to the inside front of the second strip of cardstock to attach your last step.

There ya go! You now have a fun card base to decorate til' your tickled pink! :)

Here's another Cherish Club layout I just completed with pictures, title and embellishments. I had so much fun with the last interactive page I decided to make part of this one interactive as well. I only used one pocket from the photo storage pages and used bigger brads to fasten it to the page proctector and through the layout. Colors are {Bamboo, Twilight, and Outdoor Denim}

The Potential of a Cherish Club Layout!

This is a layout my Cherish Club members had to choose from back in September.

This is my version of the layout complete with pictures and embelishments.

I LOVE using CTMH Dimensional Element Alphas for titles!

A fun interactive page! I simply put my layout in a page protector, figured out where I wanted my tag to come out, slipped the eyelet mat down in the page protector, punched two circles at both ends of where I wanted my slit, then used my exacto knife and ruler to connect the circles, giving me access to my tag without pulling the whole page out!

Yet another interactive peice to this fun layout. I had way more pictures then this layout could fit so I hid more pictures behind another. I used our 6 pocket Photo Storage pages to make an accordian album and glued the extra layouts right to the front of the page proctector my layout is stored in!

This is layout #5 for me for 2009! I have a goal of completing at least 100 pages this year. I had a lot of fun with this one and can't wait to start on another!

Another tribute to Baby!

Here are some adorable little 3x3 cards I created as the make n take for my spring Open House this past weekend. The little babies are from the NEW Family Ties - Children stamp set. The colors on the girl card are Hollyhock, blush, and Chocolate. The patterned paper is from More To Adore. The boy card colors are, Chocolate, Crystal Blue, Colonial White and Bamboo. The patterned paper for that card is the reverse side of one of the B&T papers from the Notebook paper packet.
